What is a vice that’s being followed indiscriminately across age, language, or religion?
Procrastination.
It’s been with me forever. Whatever I plan for it goes for a toss. It’s all well and good and didn’t affect the day-to-day progress.
The AI.
I was planning to learn AI since 2018. Even before the GenAI became a commoners term. The thought that I would be somewhere else and be someone else if only I had spent time learning AI is still haunting me. That’s 8 years. I spend the majority time wasting watching TV shows and movies, instead.
The wake up call was the AI usage at work. I, even though know some basics, I notices a huge difference between me and a guy who does Agentic development. The amount of time he saves is huge. At 36, time is something I can’t afford to waste
I changed the waking hours. And between Aug 16th to 28th I achieved peak productivity. I was able to handle my work alongside learning the theory behind Deep Learning, and build Second Brain, too.
Now, recollecting about those 2 weeks was about and more importantly what worked was a revelation.
- Each night I hit the bed with my kid around 9 pm - Early to bed.
- I raise around 5-5.30 AM, every day. - This gave me a head start.
- While on bed I listed down key things to do in the next morning. - Planning made things happen.
- As I woke up earlier I got sleep earlier and joined my kid. - The cycle continued.
Every achievement comes with some sacrifice. I let go off,
- Listening to podcasts
- Catching up with TV shows
- Doomscrolling
I feel the glue that held them was the planning. Planning was meticulous. I spent good time on the bed visualizing what was the volume of work, the meetings and allocated time for the additional learning session. That did wonders.
