Fear + Confusion + Hope = Life?

This is a very, very small post.

I always wonder if uncertainty is bad, possibly the worst feature of life, or may be a bug in life. But uncertainty is not something new that we tend to experience recently. Since the earliest times, uncertainty has been part of life. Thinking out loud, waking up next morning is as uncertain as the weather.

Fear

The Earth has gone through several extinctions before taking its current form. According to the experts, it has gone through the Big Five Mass Extinction. Apart from these extinction events, we understand now that many species go kaput every day. We could be the ones on any day, and the day hasn’t arrived yet. Recently, a microbe has shown us how brittle we are.

When we think about life objectively, we should be stuck in a perpetual fear of the future and its uncertainty. Anything (may be everything) could go wrong. Yet, we have survived this long.

Confusion

We always believe the future is static and is defined solely by our actions. But it is actually as dynamic as a wild stream of water. It tends to change course with everything that it touches.

For example, you plan to visit the workplace a bit early the next day. Accordingly, you woke up earlier. Yet, the commute could take extra time due to some moron committing a traffic mistake. Life is much more complex than we really seem to understand.

This may sound like a conspiracy theory, control over our lives is nothing but an illusion. If we can’t even control our own lives and how the trajectory gets drawn, what are we even trying on this solidified blue planet?

Imagine the same scenario. When you realize that life is more than what you do and depends heavily on what others (who could be unrelated to you) do/did.

Hope

The impact of the Butterfly Effect is often overlooked. Hope is something that drives us forward, overlooking fear and confusion.

If we look at it closely, we may realize Fear and Hope are two sides of same coin. As much as we have fear and cofusion about the future, the hope is there to balance it.

Fear + Confusion + Hope = Life

Thinking of which, aren’t these result in life?
